Liturgical concepts

“Catechumenate”

Period of preparatory training for the sacraments of Christian initiation for adults (baptism, confirmation, eucharist).

“Eucharist”

Central sacrament of the Catholic liturgy through which, during mass, the sacrifice of Christ is made present, and his body and blood are shared.

“Invitatory”

Psalm sung at the beginning of Matins (service preceding daybreak).

« Mystery »

Reality revealed as an object of faith, inaccessible to reason, whose meaning can only be reached through divine revelation. The founding mysteries of Christianism are the Trinity, the Incarnation and the Redemption. The mystery should not be conceived as a negative form of human knowledge, but rather as an opening to the fundamental truth which, for believers, is the mystery of God manifested in Jesus Christ.
